Meet Nicoleta

My name is Nicoleta Ion, and I am a pianist. I cherish music, the life it gives me, and the silence that surrounds it. I am drawn to colors, moods, scents, flavors, shapes, and emotions—both outwardly and within. Water is where I feel most at home; it gives me a sense of freedom, security, and strength. I have a deep appreciation for people and their life stories and am fascinated by the many different paths one can take.

I was born in Romania, in the culturally rich and diverse region of Transylvania, where I started playing the piano at the age of six—though at the time, I wasn’t quite sure what it meant for me. It wasn’t until my teenage years, when I had to give up competitive swimming, that I fully embraced music and the piano, making them my passion, my craft, and my way of life—with all the highs and lows that come with it.

After beginning my studies in Bucharest, I moved to Hanover in 2001 to further my piano training and delve into fortepiano and historical performance practices. Since then, I have devoted myself to music as a concert pianist, choir director, and educator. In recent years, I have also discovered a deep enthusiasm for cultural initiatives, continuously growing with and through my projects.
Since 2018, I have called Wedemark my home, and in 2024, I realized a long-held dream by opening Nicoleta’s Pavilion in the heart of Bissendorf.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Evangelical Lutheran Church Congregation of St. Michaelis, without whose generous practical support this event could not have taken place.
